Accessibility Statement

Backcountry Tech Solutions is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities.

Our Commitment

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities. We view accessibility not as a one-time checklist but as an ongoing practice integrated into our development process.

Accessibility Measures

We take the following measures to ensure accessibility on backcountry.tronboll.us:

Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
ARIA labels on interactive elements including navigation, forms, and the AI chat assistant
Keyboard navigation support throughout the site
Sufficient color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards
Alt text on all meaningful images
Responsive design that adapts to screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%
Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
Form inputs with associated labels and error messages
Skip-to-content navigation for screen reader users
No content that flashes more than three times per second

Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some areas may have limitations. We are actively working to address these:

AI Chat Assistant

The floating chat widget supports keyboard navigation and screen readers. However, streaming AI responses may not be announced by all screen readers in real time. A full transcript is always available in the chat window.

PDF Documents

Some downloadable documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to ensure all documents meet accessibility standards. Contact us for alternative formats.

Third-Party Content

Some embedded content from third-party services may not fully meet accessibility standards. We advocate for accessibility with our service providers.
